2019 BOYS VOLLEYBALL DISTRICTS

round of the District XI/II subregion will be held on Thursday, May 16,
2019. The top 4 teams will host the
quarterfinal round. The latest
standings can be found of the District II website. The semi-final round will be held on
Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Catasauqua High School. The times are 5:30 and 7:00. The finals are also slated for
Catasauqua at 7:00 on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
As stated in an earlier newsletter this year’s AA
tournament will be an eight team tournament and any team that has a .500
winning percentage. There is a
strong possibility that 12 teams will qualify. If this happens, the first round will be
held on Monday, May 13, 2019. The
top 4 teams will have a bye. The
remaining eight teams will play single matches at the site of the higher seed.
It will be run as a regular match.
There will be no admission for the first round. The home school will pay for the
officials. Only 2 officials will be
assigned. Line judges will be
provided by the home school.
The pairing will be:

The winners will advance to the quarterfinal round. The dates are:

High School. The match for the
third seed will take place at 5:00.
The championship match will begin approximately thirty minutes after the
conclusion of the first match.

will provide the ticket seller, ticket collector, security, timer, scorer,
libero tracker/announcer and trainer.
These people will be paid by the district committee. The athletic director of the host school
will act as the site manager. All
matches will be the same as during the season—Best of 5 using rally
scoring with no caps and win by two points. Games 1 through 4 will be 25 point
games, and game 5, if necessary, will be a 15 point game with no cap and win by

SEEDING OF QUALIFIERS
Seeding will be done using
the power rating system. The latest
standings can be found of the District II website.

semi-final and final rounds will be $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. For
those matches, each school will be entitled to twenty-five team tickets admissions. This includes all team personnel. Everyone on your team must be stamped
upon entering the game site. ALL TEAM
PERSONAL MUST ENTER AT THE SAME TIME. DOORS WILL NOT BE OPENED TO THE FANS OR
TEAMS AT THE GAME SITE UNTIL 4:00 FOR ALL ROUNDS. THE HOST SCHOOLS WILL ALSO FOLLOW THIS
LOCKER ROOMS AND BENCHES

manager. Since most schools only
have two locker rooms available for teams, I advise that your team get dressed
and bring their equipment out and store it behind the team bench until the
completion of your match. The host
school will not be responsible for items left in the locker room. Please help to keep both the locker room
and the area around your bench clean by disposing of all unnecessary materials
in the proper containers. Coaches,
players in uniforms, managers, statisticians and trainers will be the only
persons permitted on the team bench. The home team (higher seed) will
designate which is their bench.

officials. Every team that makes
the quarter-final round will be given a Baden (Official ball) on the night of that
match. It is now necessary to use it in districts as well as those teams that advance
to the state tournament.

until their designated warm-up time. This may not be before 30 minutes before
the start of the first match. The
coin flip will take place approximately 20 minutes before the first game
time. Warm-up will follow the coin
flip and be as follows: Bumping,
stretching, etc. for 6 minutes together, serving team will hit and serve for 7
minutes followed by the receiving team hitting and serving for 7 minutes. Only
players with uniforms and sneakers will be permitted on the playing court
during warm-ups. There will be no
music during warm-ups.
SCORER AND TIMER
official timer will be the referee.
Each team will provide a scorer for the quarter finals and
semi-finals. The home team will act
as the official scorer and have an additional scorer to act as the libero
tracker/announcer. Please select an
experienced scorer so that the match will go smoothly. They are a very important part of the
officiating crew. The home scorer
will be responsible for giving the match results to the tournament
director. THE WINNING TEAM OF EACH
MATCH IS RESPONSIBLE TO CALL THE INFORMATION INTO THE NEWSPAPERS. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE SOMEONE PRESENT
FROM THE PRESS TO GIVE THESE TEAMS THE COVERAGE THEY DESERVE, BUT IF THEY ARE
NOT, THE WINNING TEAM MUST CALL IN THE RESULTS. THE PHONE NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

conduct by any player, coach, or spectator will be dealt with by tournament
security and could result in ejection from the site. The NFHS Volleyball Rules on taunting or
the use of disconcerting acts or words when a player is about to play the ball
will be enforced by the security or game management and could result in
ejection. The site policy on
smoking on school property will be enforced. Please advise your team and fans that
PIAA tournament rules will be in effect.
The presence or use of banners, signs, whistles, noisemakers and
portable listening devices (without earphones) are not permitted. Only small listening devices (with
earphones) are permitted provided they do not interfere with other spectators
and/or tournament competition. Once
the match has begun, teams will not be permitted on the court or in the general
playing area unless warming up at the appropriate times. Coaches, players in uniform, managers,
statisticians and trainers will be the only persons permitted on the team
AWARDS AFTER THE FINAL MATCH
Upon arrival at the site of the final match, please check
and revise your roster so that the presentation of medals can go smoothly at
the conclusion of the final match.
Each team will be given 15 medals.
If you want someone else, such as an assistant coach, to receive a
medal, please indicate that on your roster. At the conclusion of the final match,
please line up your players along the end line. Their names will be read in the order
that they appear on your roster and they will be presented with either the
championship or runner-up medal.
Second place will receive their medals first followed by the
champions. The champions will also
be awarded the district championship plaque. Only team players and coaches will be
permitted on the competition floor during the medal presentation.
