INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENTERING VARSITY DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
All
entries must be submitted online via the Internet. Coaches will go to the link
following this paragraph and put in your own school’s entries; this will
eliminate the need for corrections to names, etc. on the days of the meets. Please
do not use all capital letters or all small letters. Type the name as
it should be; example is Dave Grecco. You will not need to indicate whether
each runner is in the “A” race or the “B” race. Detailed instructions will be
on the website. You must have a valid email address. Results will be posted on
the District 2 website at http://www.piaad2.org/
and on the entry website which follows. Paper copies will NOT be
distributed, as we do not have WI-FI available at the course. Results of all
races will be displayed as they become available. Feel free to contact me for
assistance. Email preferred.
The
link for entries is www.runhigh.com and
is available right now. Once you are on the website, go to the Main Menu. At
the Main Menu, click on “Cross Country Event Information.” You will need to add
your school, then enter your athletes, and finally follow the instructions to
link your school to our Varsity championships. Finally, if your 9th
graders were on the Junior High team all year, they are not eligible to
participate in the Varsity Championships. If they were on the varsity team all
year, then they are eligible for the Varsity Championships. There will not be a
Junior High Championship as of this year. Entry information will close at 5:00

racing flats or racing spikes up to a maximum of ¾” spikes.
Start Line
The start line will be
clearly marked. Coaches will be given their assigned starting zones at the
Coaches’ Meeting. Runners should be at the start line 10 minutes before each
race.
Scoring
Timing and scoring will be done using the ChampionChip
timing system provided by Runners High.
Each runner will be
issued one disposable chip that can be attached to either shoe. Timing mats
will be placed at the one-mile mark, two-mile mark, and the finish line.
Finish Line
The finish line area will not
have a chute as in the past. However, the approach to the finish line and the
finish line area itself will still be roped off so spectators do not interfere
with the runners. Its width will be determined by the width of the timing mats.
In the majority of cases, the chip will determine the official place;
however, Race Officials will be at the finish line and will be using the torso
to determine the order of finish when it is tight at the line.
These are disposable Chips
which, again, do not have to be returned after the races. However, if any
Coach has any Chips which were not used, we ask that you return only unused
Chips.
Aiding & Abetting
This course is a great spectator
course. Spectators and coaches will be able to view their runners at several
strategic points during the race without having to travel long distances.
Coaches, runners, and spectators must be careful not to run alongside athletes
during the race. If a race official witnesses this behavior, the athlete
involved will face a possible disqualification.
Note: This has not been a problem in the past, but this
course may easily lend itself to coaches, athletes, and spectators unknowingly
getting excited and infringing on the rules.
Parents &.
Spectators
For the runners’ safety and
following the rules of the PIAA, dogs and pets are not allowed at the
site of the District II X-Country Championships. Please inform your runners and
their parents of this rule.
Note: Please keep runners
who may be watching a particular race to stay away from the timing mats if they
are wearing their Chips.
Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony will be
held promptly at 4:00 pm on the bleachers in front of the A.
Results
The results will be posted on
the Internet at www.runhigh.com and at
the District II website at http://www.piaad2.org/
Results will also be posted on a display board at an area to be announced.
BEST OF LUCK!
