The Junior High Wrestling Championships will be separated into two
weekends.
The first weekend will be the sectional tournaments. (EAST – CRESTWOOD,
WEST – BLUE RIDGE H.S.) The top four place winners in each
sectional will advance to the District Tournament on the following
weekend. (FINALS –LAKE
–LEHMAN HS).
This packet contains information for both weekends. The sectional tournament will be held on
Saturday, February 13, 2010. The
District Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010.

ARE $5.00 FOR ADULTS AND $3.00 FOR STUDENTS

BOUT TIMES:
Times for periods will be:
Three periods of 1 min. 30 sec.
Overtime: 1 minute, 30 sec., 30 sec., 30 sec.
AWARDS:
Medals will be presented to the First, Second, Third and Fourth place
winners in each tournament in the following weights: 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100,
105
110, 115, 122, 130, 138, 145, 155, 165, 185, 210, 250. There will be a team champion
awarded in each tournament.
REGISTRATION FEE: A registration fee of $7.00 per wrestler
will be payable to the “District 2 P.I.A.A.” Please submit registration sheet and
check along with your eligibility sheet at the seeding meeting. THANK-YOU!
SEEDING MEETINGS: The meetings for both divisions
will be held at Pittston
Area H.S. on February 11, 2010 at 6:30. This meeting is
mandatory. Wrestlers will be
locked into their weight
classes at registration.
Please bring
20 copies of the point totals and documentation for each wrestler’s
record, competition, and prestige points.
Use the enclosed forms. THE ONLY CHANGES THAT WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER THE
SEEDING MEETING WILL BE SCRATCHES. THE SEEDING MEETING IS A CHANCE TO LET
COACHES KNOW ABOUT ANY SHEDULE CHANGES, TIMES, ETC.
SEEDING
CRITERIA: Please use the
point total criteria that has been agreed to
by the Jr. Hi. Wrestling coaches.
There is a point system attached.
Also, please bring documentation for all point totals for each entrant
with
you to the seeding meeting.
There is a form attached for compiling the
point totals for each wrestler.
NOTE: The
first 8 wrestlers in each weight class will be seeded and the rest of the
wrestlers and the byes will be randomly drawn.

WEIGH-INS
Weigh-ins will be at 8:30 for JH Sectional tournament and
7:30 for the District tournament.
All wrestlers must be in the weigh-in area at that time. No exceptions! If there are extenuating
circumstances-an accident, bad road conditions, etc. contact the appropriate
tournament personnel. Bring
Weigh-In sheets to Weigh-In.

Junior High Wrestling Seeding Criteria
2009-2010
Seeding will
be based upon 3 separate areas: winning percentage, prestige points, and
competition points.
#1 PERCENTAGE
RECORD – Based on total won/loss record (wins divided by the total #
of matches wrestled) Must be a 12 bout minimum to get the full total. Subtract 10 points for each match under
the 12 bout minimum.
